The newly retired former Olympique Marsielle, Chelsea and Ivory Coast striker has blasted former boss, Jose Mourinho's critics, saying that the Portuguese gaffer could have won the English Premier league title repeatedly if he was managing Manchester City. The current Manchester United boss has come under sporadic fire from all quarters as the Red Devils seem to be falling way behind their neighbours with the 20 time English champions finishing a whopping 19 points off Pep Guardiola's irresistible squad that romped to the title las season.

Manchester United are outside the top four currently with 12 games of the ongoing season played and with twelve points adrift of the Citizens after Mourinho's side were schooled in a 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium prior to the international break. Didier Drogba who was a key marksman under the 'special one' during their days at Chelsea however believes that Jose Mourinho has become a victim of the standards he has set for football. "I think if you put him at Manchester City, he would have won the league twice, maybe two or three times," Drogba opined.

Despite Jose Mourinho winning three Premier League titles at Stamford Bridge, he has not been able to muster a convincing title challenge since his foray into the 'Theatre of Dreams' in 2016 but Drogba has backed his former coach to succeed at Old Trafford. "You get criticism because you set a standard of winning, winning and winning and now you're not winning or having the same results. He is still there. You have to look at all the managers who were at Manchester United the last few years".
