New Minimum Wage suffers another setback as governors fail to meet

The Nigerian Governors Forum, Wednesday evening failed to reconvene its members to discuss the ongoing issues around the proposed N30,000 minimum wage.

The meeting at the NGF secretariat in Abuja was supposed to deliberate on the resolution of the emergency meeting held by the Federal Executive Council on Tuesday.

But the governors could not record any success as only five of the 36 state governors turned up for the meeting while four others sent in their deputies.

Governors of Zamfara, Bauchi, Jigawa, Niger and Adamawa states appeared in person while governors of Kaduna, Enugu, Nasarawa and Katsina sent in their deputies.

FEC at its meeting on Tuesday resolved that the matter would be transmitted to the National Economic Council (NEC) headed by the Vice-President while the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed refused to divulge further Information on the outcome of the FEC meeting.
