BREAKING: Buhari makes first appointment after winning reelection

President Muhammad Buhari has appointed Liman Alhaji Ibrahim as the new Controller General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

Before his appointment, Ibrahim was the Assistant Controller General in charge of Policy, Regulatory and Inspectorate.

Ibrahim takes over from Joseph Anebi.

It is the first appointment Buhari is making since winning re-election as President in Saturday’s presidential election.

He is also expected to dissolve his cabinet before his swearing in for second term.

The Presidency yesterday revealed that Buhari is set to dissolve his cabinet before his inauguration for a second term in office on 29 May.

Spokesman for Buhari Femi Adesina, in an interview on Arise TV, said the president was expected to officially dissolve his cabinet at the expiration of his first tenure.

Adesina said: “That mandate lapses on May 29, and shortly before May 29, the president is likely going to officially dissolve his government. That is the way it is usually done.

“He says thank you to everybody that he has called to work with him and then he dissolves that government officially.

“Then when he is inaugurated for a second time, he now reconstitutes a government; he appoints his personal aides, he forms his cabinet, he appoints other people to fill other positions.”
