Rivers Decides: Harassment of our officials reason for delaying collation-INEC

Rivers State Head of Voter Education and Publicity of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Edwin Enabor has explained the reason for the delay in the collation of results of the governorship and state house of assembly elections in the state.

According to Enabor, some people in military uniforms harassed INEC Returning Officers in the state during Saturday’s polls.

In an exclusive interview with BBC Pidgin Service in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital, Enabor said the men in military uniforms harassed their officials at some collation centres in some local government areas, leading to delay in the collation of result.

Not knowing if they were truly military personnel, he added that the INEC personnel called for security, who later arrested those men, verified their identity and released them.

Meanwhile, the collation centre where the governorship election result in the state will be declared is ready.
