Fani Kayode showers praises on Buhari for the first time (SEE REASON)

Former Minister of Aviation and a chieftain of the opposition PDP, Femi Fani-Kayode, has applauded President Muhammadu Buhari for securing the release of Zainab Aliyu who was arrested in Saudi Arabia for alleged drug trafficking.

It was reported on Tuesday, April 30th, reported that the Nigerian government, said it had established the innocence of Zainab, and its second citizen involved in the case, Ibrahim Abubakar, would be released on Wednesday to the Nigerian Mission in Saudi Arabia.

President Buhari had earlier directed Nigeria’s Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to swiftly intervene in the case.

Reacting to Zainab’s release, Fani-Kayode, who is a ferocious critic of President Buhari and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), said: “Securing the release of Zainab from execution in a Saudi prison is a great achievement by @MBuhari. She was due to be executed for a crime she never committed. Buhari saved her life by intervening and for the first time in 4 years I am proud to be a Nigerian! Welcome home Zainab!”

Zainab, a student of Maitama Sule University, Kano, was arrested after a banned drug, tramadol, was found in her bag.

But she claimed it was planted in her luggage by unknown persons.

She had travelled from Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport with her mother, Maryam Aliyu, and sister, Hajara Aliyu.

This news medium also learned that the father of the alleged drug courier, Habib Aliyu, had appealed to the Federal Government, the Saudi authorities and the international community as well as well-meaning individuals to intervene in her daughter’s case and save her from being executed unjustly.
